For many SEO companies who have failed to adapt to the ever-changing search engine rules skills and a gazillion tools for them, link building has been dead for many years.
Indeed there is still much talk about link building as continuing to be a factor for your website ranking along with great content. However, we are seeing where many SEO companies are only focused on building great content and On-Page SEO while neglecting a link building campaign all the while following the narrative that link campaigns are of less of a priority since Google released Penguin. I wonder if these companies really know everything about the continued importance of link building?
Google has confirmed that in fact, links remain the #1 ranking factor along with great content. The fact remains that ranking without links is very difficult although with just a peak of the competition why begs the question why would anyone try to rank without links in the first place? Just for the record Google still cares about links and so should you!
Matt Cutts the former head of Google Web Spam team said " The objective is not to make your links appear natural the objective is that your links are natural ".
John Mueller, Webmaster Trends Analyst at Google said "Links, in particular, are really important to Google because that's how we discover the rest of your website".
